Clay Tile

Inspiration:
For my next project, I will be making a 5x6 clay tile relief. The goal is to create a three dimensional drawing using three levels of carving in my tile. High , medium and low levels. the background will be low, the middle ground will be medium and the foreground will be high.
I am choosing to make an autumn tree with lots of texture. I will then paint it with acrylic paint or glaze.

Design: Here is a picture of my idea.
I will be using fall colors and black paint as a stain to make the textures stand out.

Creation:
Here is a picture of my tile mid process. I am liking it so far, but still need to finish painting it.
The only problem is choosing colors to stand out.

White Paper Sculpture

Inspiration:
For this project the goal is create a 3d sculpture using white paper only. Students must be able to demonstrate 3-4 different techniques of cutting or folding paper to create textures and contrast with light and shadow. The theme is open choice and can be freestanding or a relief.

Design: The class experimented and had to record their paper cutting techniques. They were then to research images, brainstorm with others, or watch videos on other types of paper folding and cutting techniques and develop a theme.

Creation: Students must show progress and talk bout their project or revisions they are making. This is during the creation of the project. They should get feedback from others and problem solve if challenges arise. They can ask for help or research more ideas to solve problems that may arise.

3d B Cardboard Reliefs

My 3D B classes are starting cardboard reliefs and they had to use 3-4 different types of texture along with layering to create depth. Since cardboard is cheap and easily found, the materials are easy to come by. They can elements of color to the projects or leave them natural.
Here are some examples of work that inspired them.
We also looked at the work of Mark Langan and Ali Golzad

Assemblage Art Adavanced 3D

Advanced students are starting their assemblage projects and gathering materials for the upcycled works of art.
They were to choose any old item ie, window, door, chair, frame, mirror, lamp, etc and repurpose it into something new.
I will post the finished pieces soon.
Here are some examples of what inspired their work.
This is honestly one of the funnest projects I have done with my classes!!
